Game engineering built on verifiable state and low-latency edge compute.

Lumina Games develops custom runtime infrastructure and creative tooling for interactive software. Our engineering focuses on four core problem spaces: deterministic state synchronization, edge-native multiplayer rooms, live authoring pipelines, and defense-in-depth content moderation.

Lumina Runtime & Platform Stack

Deterministic Client Simulation ↔ Edge Stateful Rooms ↔ Multi-Stage Trust Pipeline

Layer 1 · Client & Simulation Deterministic Tick & Visual Runtime Fixed-step simulation clock, rolling state checksums, command-log serialization, and WebGL/Canvas rendering.
Layer 2 · Network & State Stateful Edge Room Coordinators Cloudflare Durable Objects managing WebSocket fan-out, room authority, presence, and transactional SQLite/D1 persistence.
Layer 3 · Trust & Persistence Asynchronous Guard & Asset Storage Queue-backed 4-stage safety screening, R2 immutable project bundles, and verifiable COPPA parental consent state machines.
01 · Simulation & Netcode

Deterministic Lockstep & State Verification

Multiplayer games degrade rapidly when network jitter or floating-point drift causes client states to diverge. We design simulation loops where every state transition is a pure function of quantized tick inputs.

Rolling State Checksums
Periodic cryptographic hashes of authoritative entity state detect any client divergence on the exact tick it occurs.
Command-Stream Replays
Because simulations are deterministic, full matches and collaborative sessions record as compact input streams rather than gigabyte video captures.
Resilient Session Rejoin
Transient connection drops recover cleanly through state snapshot catch-up and input buffer replay.
02 · Edge Infrastructure

Globally Distributed Stateful Rooms

Instead of routing players through centralized region-locked VMs, our web-native platforms coordinate live multiplayer rooms on Cloudflare Durable Objects at the network edge.

Single-Point Room Authority
Each active multiplayer or co-editing room maps to a strongly consistent edge coordinator (RoomDO and PlayDO), eliminating split-brain race conditions.
WebSocket Hibernation
Idle rooms hibernate in milliseconds while keeping WebSocket connections open at the edge, scaling from two friends to thousands of concurrent rooms without idle compute waste.
Zero-Config Browser Delivery
Players and creators join sessions via instant URLs with no port forwarding, NAT punchthrough failures, or desktop installers.

Sequential 4-stage content moderation pipeline

Creative platforms that serve younger players and families require rigorous engineering, not afterthought keyword blocklists. Every project and text submission on our creative platform passes through four sequential verification stages before public release.

  1. Stage 1

    Deterministic Lexical & Pattern Filter

Synchronous zero-latency inspection strips PII patterns (phone numbers, addresses, emails, external chat handles) and blocks known unsafe terms before data ever reaches persistent storage.

  2. Stage 2

    Semantic Vector Screening

Text inside project titles, instructions, and dialogue is embedded via @cf/baai/bge-small-en-v1.5 and compared against calibrated benign and unsafe exemplar banks to catch obfuscated policy evasions.

  3. Stage 3

    Contextual LLM Safety Triage

Ambiguous submissions are evaluated in context by an isolated worker inference model (@cf/meta/llama-3.3-70b-instruct-fp8-fast) without exposing creator account identifiers.

  4. Stage 4

    Human-in-the-Loop Release Queue

For under-13 creators with verified parental consent, projects remain private by default and require explicit review and approval by a human moderator before appearing in public galleries.

Clear boundary between proprietary infrastructure and open client tooling

We believe creative editors benefit from public inspection and community contribution. While our server infrastructure, moderation datasets, and edge room engines are proprietary to Lumina Games LLC, the Squiggle visual block editor is maintained openly under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPL-3.0).
